Latest Cake Work

Hello, nice to see you again.

In the last few weeks I've been inspired (still) to make more miniature cakes...Instagram is a huge source of inspiration for me, almost to the point where I need to make a mini replica of every single cake I see!

Since I cannot physically recreate every single one, I try to pick a cake that involves making something new, something that (in my eyes) I needed to improve on or something that truly has me drooling.

After making the wooden boards in different colours, I used the two white ones to make two different cake scenes: a Victoria Sponge and a Blueberry Cake.

They're both very similar, only the Victoria Sponge Cake scene represents more like an afternoon tea moment so I added a cup of tea as well. Whereas the Blueberry one has a miniature succulent plant to complete the scene.

Next I made a Black Forest Cake inspired by Anjali @bakesalotlady on Instagram.

And last but not least, I decided to finally make a naked wedding cake in the style or flavours I'd like my own wedding cake to be! Mine would probably be covered in strawberries though!

Everything in this cake, including the wood effect cake board, is sculpted by me. It took me about 16 hours to complete and I didn't use any moulds.

There's a reason I didn't film tutorials of any of these cakes, but I'm working on a project that hopefully you won't have to wait long to find out more about.

All my cakes are now available for purchase from my website or my Etsy Shop: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MaiveFerrando?ref=seller-platform-mcnav

To frost all the cakes mentioned in this blog I used a mixture of FIMO Liquid and solid polymer clay in the colours I needed. I do have tutorials on my Youtube Channel on how I achieve these mixes and also on how to decorate cakes and/or cupcakes using cold porcelain.

I am currently working on new cakes that should hit my Etsy Shop and website soon.

Thank you so much for reading and I'll catch you next time,

Maive
